Mumbai Police Arrests Man From Karnataka's Haveri For Issuing Death Threat To Salman Khan
The accused Bhikaram Jalaram Bishnoi was arrested by a team of the Worli police station following an interrogation. He had sent the threat message on Mumbai traffic police's helpline.
A 35-year-old man was arrested by the Mumbai police on Wednesday from Karnataka's Haveri for allegedly sending a threat message to Bollywood actor Salman Khan. He had demanded an apology from Salman Khan or pay Rs 5 crore to stay alive.
The threat message was sent on Mumbai traffic police's helpline. The accused, Bhikaram Jalaram Bishnoi, a resident of Haveli in Karnataka, was arrested by a team of the Worli police station following his interrogation, news agency PTI reported.
Bishnoi, who is originally hails from Rajasthan's Jalore, had sent a threat message on the WhatsApp helpline of the Mumbai traffic police control room on Monday night, police official said. In the message, he claimed he is the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
The threat message read: "If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to our temple and apologise or pay Rs 5 crore. If he does not do so, we will kill him; our gang is still active."
Following the threat, a case was registered at the Worli police station against the accused person. He was picked up in a joint operation by Maharashtra and Karnataka Police on Tuesday night.
"During the police investigation, it was unveiled that the accused hailed from Karnataka, following which a Worli police team was sent to nab him. He was arrested late on Tuesday and after being interrogation, and was placed under arrest by the Worli police," PTI quoted the police officer as saying.
Senior police inspector Nitin Shinde said that Bikram Bishnoi, alias Vikram, a welder from Bengaluru was apprehended. Police said although Vikram belongs to the Bishnoi community, he did not have any link with the gang, TOI reported.
The accused was produced before the local court for a transit remand, and will be brought to Mumbai soon.
