Mumbai Man Arrested, Beauty Parlour Owner Booked For Social Media Post On 'Operation Sindoor'

A man from Mumbai's Kurla was arrested while a beauty parlour owner was booked in a separate cases for objectionable posts on social media on Operation Sindoor.

A 20-year-old youth, Sahil Zahruddin Khan from the city's Kurla area was arrested for posting an objectionable post about 'Operation Sindoor'.

Posting a caption on Instagram, Sahil reportedly said, "If there is an India-Pakistan war, it will be India's last war." A case was booked against him under relevant sections at Kurla police station, reported IANS.

Meanwhile, woman and a youth were booked in separate cases in Mumbai over their post on social media criticising the Operation Sindoor.

An FIR was lodged against Salman Rafiq Khan, 40, a resident of the OCC area in Malvani-Malad on Saturday. A notice has also been served to Khan, who owns a beauty parlour in Malvani locality, reported IANS.

According to a police official, the case is linked to a post shared by Khan on her Facebook account, in which she reportedly criticised Operation Sindoor.

In the post, she reportedly wrote: "Peace over head... When governments make reckless decisions, it's the innocent on both sides who pay the price - not the ones in power."

The post also contained an obscene reference to the operation, deemed offensive and provocative by authorities. She has been booked in Section 353 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for statements conducing to public mischief, along with applicable sections of the Information Technology Act, the officer said.

The Indian armed forces carried out 'Operation Sindoor' on May 7 in retaliation to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam where 26 civilians were killed including a Nepali citizen.

Under the operation, nine terrorist bases were targeted in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir. Pakistan resorted to failed drone strikes and heavy artillery shelling across the Line of Control resulting in civilian deahts including that of a Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services officer.

On Saturday, India and Pakistan engaged in bilateral dialogue and agreed to reach a ceasefire.
