Three men posing as patients shot dead a 30-year-old doctor at his clinic in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Three men posing as patients shot dead a 30-year-old doctor at his clinic in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district late Friday night, said a senior police official.
The accused entered the clinic, located under the jurisdiction of Rajendra Nagar police station, posing as patients said Vinod Kumar Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP, Indore Zone-1).
The footage of the incident could not be captured in the CCTV camera as there was a power cut due to heavy rainfall at that time, he added.
"On the night of December 27 at around 11:30 pm, three unknown people shot Dr Sunil Sahu (around 30 years old) dead at his clinic in the city," Meena said.
"We have constituted several teams to investigate the matter and to nab the accused. The probe into the matter is underway and soon we will be able to reveal the facts related to the incident," Meena said," he added.
As per the post-mortem report, Sahu was shot once in the chest, said the police official. A compounder at the clinic told the police during questioning that three persons entered the doctor's cabin after which he heard the sound of a bullet firing, he added.
The compounder saw them running from the clinic.
Prima facie, the accused came for the treatment of cold and cough, Meena said. As per police intelligence, the accused performed recce of the spot for around 3-4 hours before committing the crime, said the police official.
Therefore, it was a pre-planned murder and further investigation into the matter is underway, he added.
Sahu, who was described by his patients as a "kind" doctor had rented the clinic space about two and a half months ago, reported The Times of India.
On Friday, he received a call at around 7:30 pm stating that a patient would visit around 9:30 pm. Unaware of the trap, he arrived at the clinic. The witnesses reported seeing three masked gunmen. The phone number that was used to make the call belonged to a labourer who said the two men had borrowed his phone, as per the TOI report.
