Month-Long Traffic Diversion At Noida's Barola Crossing as Steel Girder Work Begins

Vehicles heading from Hajipur underpass to Sector 76 will be rerouted via Sector 47’s internal roads.

Noida News: Noida commuters, brace for detours. Starting this week, traffic at Barola crossing will be diverted for nearly a month as authorities begin installing a massive 50-metre steel girder on the Bhangel elevated road.

The girder will be placed on the Bhangel-to-Barola stretch, impacting traffic flow from multiple directions. Officials from Noida Authority and the city’s traffic police have mapped out alternate routes through internal roads in nearby sectors to manage congestion during the construction.

"This diversion is essential for the safety of commuters and the progress of the elevated road project," said Lakhan Singh Yadav, deputy commissioner of police (Traffic). The police urged residents to cooperate and plan alternate routes to avoid delays.

A similar girder has already been installed on the Barola-to-Bhangel side, and this final placement marks a major milestone in completing the project.

Barola Crossing, a key traffic hub in Noida, connects Sector 76 with the Hajipur underpass — a vital link to the Noida Expressway, Botanical Garden Metro station, and NSEZ (National Special Economic Zone).

Traffic Diversions

  • Vehicles heading from Hajipur underpass to Sector 76 will be rerouted via Sector 47’s internal roads.
  • Traffic from Sector 76 toward Hajipur must turn left at Barola T-point.
  • Commuters travelling between Botanical Garden and NSEZ will also need to navigate through sector roads — which may see added pressure due to narrower widths.
  • The 5.5-km Bhangel elevated corridor — running above the Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera road — is nearly 90% complete. Authorities expect it to open for public use within two months.
  • Once functional, the elevated stretch is set to significantly improve connectivity for thousands, particularly easing traffic for those commuting between central Noida sectors (18, 19, 20, 29, and 38-A) and the bustling 7X sector cluster toward NSEZ and the Expressway.
