Meghalaya Police Arrest 3 Suspects, Wife Surrenders In Raja Raghuvanshi Murder

Three assailants arrested, wife surrendered in Meghalaya honeymoon murder case; police continue hunt for one remaining accused.

Meghalaya Police have made significant progress in the high-profile murder case of Indore tourist Raja Raghuvanshi, who was allegedly killed during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. Within just seven days, the authorities have arrested three male assailants from Madhya Pradesh, while the wife of the victim, Sonam, has voluntarily surrendered to the police in Uttar Pradesh.

The Chief Minister of Nagaland shared the update on X, stating, "In a significant breakthrough within just seven days, the Meghalaya Police have made major progress in the high-profile Raja murder case. Three male assailants, all hailing from Madhya Pradesh, have been arrested. Additionally, a female suspect involved in the case has surrendered to authorities. The police confirmed that the operation is still underway to nab the final accused, who remains at large."

According to Meghalaya’s Director General of Police, I Nongrang, Sonam surrendered at the Nandganj police station in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, and was subsequently arrested. Three male suspects were apprehended during overnight raids—one from Uttar Pradesh and two from Indore—by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The arrested men have revealed that Sonam had hired them to kill her husband.

"The operation is still continuing in Madhya Pradesh to catch some more persons involved in the crime," DGP Nongrang said, confirming ongoing efforts to apprehend the remaining accused who is still on the run.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma congratulated the police on their swift action, saying, "Within 7 days a major breakthrough has been achieved by the #meghalayapolice in the Raja murder case... 3 assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, female has surrendered and operation still on to catch 1 more assailant… well done."

This case, which shocked both the state and the nation, has seen rapid developments as the investigation unfolds, highlighting the determined efforts of law enforcement agencies to bring all accused to justice.
