Maharashtra Teen Dies After Train Runs Over Her As She Crossed Tracks With Headphones On
The deceased from Makne village in the district, was crossing the tracks when she was knocked down by the Kochuveli-Amritsar Superfast Express train.

A teenage girl was killed after she was hit by a train while she was crossing the railway tracks in the Palghar district of Maharashtra on Thursday. In the incident which occurred at 1:10 pm, between Saphale and Kelve Road railway stations the 16-year-old was said to be wearing headphones which may have prevented hearing the train.
According to PTI, Vaishnavi Rawal from Makne village in the district, was crossing the tracks when she was knocked down by the Kochuveli-Amritsar Superfast Express train. She suffered grievous injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared dead. The Government Railway Police (GRP) said, the girl probably could not hear the sound of the oncoming train as she had earphones plugged in.
Her body was sent to a government hospital for a post-mortem and a case of accidental death was registered. It added that the incident was under investigation.

The incident occurred a few days after a train ran over several passengers near Jalgaon in Maharashtra after they jumped from a halted train to the rail tracks amid rumours of fire leading to the tragic accident. Atleast 8 deceased from the total 13 were identified, including two from their Aadhar Cards, said Special Inspector General of Police Dattatraya Karale.
At least 59 other people were injured, with 12 individuals in critical condition receiving ventilation support.
Passengers aboard Mumbai-bound Pushpak Express got off the train onto adjacent tracks after an alarm chain-pulling incident and were run over by the Karnataka Express heading from Bengaluru to Delhi. The Railway Ministry has announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 1.5 lakh each to the families of the deceased Rs 50,000 to those with serious injuries and Rs 5,000 for people who sustained minor wounds.
The Maharashtra government has also announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the next of the kin of deceased and free medical treatment for the injured.
