Minor Girl Drugged, Raped And Dumped On Street In Maharashtra's Jalna, Accused Arrested

The accused has been arrested on charges of rape and other offenses under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, according to police.

A nine-year-old girl was allegedly drugged, raped, and then abandoned on a street by a 19-year-old man in the Jalna district of Maharashtra, police said on Monday. Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Bansal confirmed that the identified accused, Aditya Jadhav (19), a resident of Chandanjhira, has been arrested.

"Jadhav picked up the girl from her home on Sunday night when she was alone, drugged and raped her. He then abandoned her on a street after torturing and assaulting her," Bansal said, news agency PTI reported.

The girl, initially in critical condition, was rushed to a district hospital and later transferred to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Bansal also said that she is now out of danger. The child was discovered on the street after her mother returned home, found her missing, and began searching for her. Later her mother filed a complaint at the Chandanjhira police station.
