Maharashtra Day Celebrations: Traffic Advisory Issued For May 1 Parade. Check Routes & Diversions

Traffic heading toward the Western Suburbs will be rerouted via SK Bole Road, Portuguese Church, Gokhale Road, LJ Road, and Raja Bade Chowk.

Mumbai Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of the Maharashtra Day parade, with several roads around Shivaji Park to be closed between 6:00 AM and 12:00 PM on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

The event will commemorate Maharashtra Day, marking the formation of the Marathi-speaking state in 1960, following the division of Bombay State into Maharashtra and Gujarat. Celebrations will include public and private events, speeches, and official ceremonies across the state. The day also coincides with International Labour Day.

No-Parking Zones Will Be In Effect In Several Areas

Specific road restrictions include full closures of Keluskar Road South and North (except for invited guests), one-way traffic on SK Bole Road (from Siddhivinayak Junction to Portuguese Church), and entry is restricted on Swatantraveer Savarkar Road (from Siddhivinayak Junction to Yes Bank Junction).

Traffic heading toward the Western Suburbs will be rerouted via SK Bole Road, Portuguese Church, Gokhale Road, LJ Road, and Raja Bade Chowk. Traffic headed toward South Mumbai will be diverted via Pandurang Naik Road, Raja Bade Chowk, LJ Road, and Gokhale Road.

No-parking zones will be in effect in several areas near Shivaji Park, including Keluskar Road (South & North), Pandurang Naik Road, and NC Kelkar Road (from Gadkari Chowk to Kotwal Garden). Parade attendees without a car pass can park at Kohinoor Parking Lots near Plaza Cinema or on JK Sawant Road in Dadar (West).

In response to the advisory, citizens are directed to schedule their travel accordingly and adhere to traffic regulations for smooth movement during the Maharashtra Day festivities.
