Lucknow Airport Partially Shut Down For 6 Months, Likely To Jeopardise Plans Of Nearly 2 Lakh Flyers
Lucknow airport saw an average of over 21 international and 109 domestic flights daily in January.

Lucknow Airport: The Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, will be closed for flights from 10 AM to 6 PM every day from Saturday, March 1, to July 15 due to runway repairs (recarpeting) and modernisation. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has approved the shutdown and repairs.

During these five and a half months, several passengers may face difficulties, especially those who have booked their tickets in advance. Lucknow Airport has advised passengers on its website to contact the relevant airlines to know the status of their flights. "Due to runway recarpeting at CCSI Airport between March 1 and July 15, 2025, flights will operate before 10 AM," a notice on the website reads.
It is estimated that 35 or more flights could be cancelled every day. This could jeopardise the travel plans of nearly 1.8 lakh passengers, as per media reports.
In January this year, Lucknow Airport saw an average of more than 21 international and about 109 domestic flights operating daily. Meanwhile, the number of international passengers was over 1.09 lakh and the number of domestic passengers was over 4.77 lakh. In fact, preparations are now underway to build a taxiway parallel to the runway after the terminal at the airport.
This new modern runway will make the landing and take-off process of flights much easier. In fact, the airport administration had sent a proposal to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Now, after getting permission to start the work, it has been decided to start the work by closing the airport. However, 132 flights will operate at the airport during this time.
Currently, there are about 155 domestic and international flights here every day. Direct flights are available from Lucknow Airport to many major cities. Flights to Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai and many other cities are available.
