Gujarat Health Worker Held For Leaking BSF, Navy Info To Pakistani Spy Via Whatsapp For Rs 40,000 Bribe: ATS

Gujarat ATS arrested a health worker for allegedly leaking sensitive military information to a Pakistani spy via WhatsApp. Gohil shared photos/videos of BSF and Navy facilities since June 2023.

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested a 28-year-old contractual health worker posted in the border district of Kutch for allegedly leaking sensitive information regarding Indian military establishments to a Pakistani spy, officials said on Saturday. The accused, identified as Sahdevsinh Gohil, was reportedly in contact with a Pakistani agent who had introduced herself as “Aditi Bharadwaj”, the ATS said in an official release.

Gohil, a resident of Lakhpat taluka in Kutch district, allegedly began sharing photos and videos of under-construction and existing Border Security Force (BSF) and Indian Navy facilities in the area via WhatsApp from June 2023 onwards, news agency PTI reported.

Superintendent of Police (ATS), Siddharth Korukonda, stated that the Pakistani agent first approached Gohil through WhatsApp in June last year, befriended him and gradually gained his trust. “After winning his trust, the agent sought photos and videos of BSF and Indian Navy offices and ongoing construction around his village. Gohil shared the requested classified information via WhatsApp,” said SP Korukonda, adding that Gohil was aware of her Pakistani identity, as per PTI.

Gohil Used His Aadhaar Number To Obtain Indian SIM Card For Pakistani Agent

In a significant revelation, officials said that in January 2025, Gohil used his Aadhaar number to obtain a SIM card and shared the OTP with the Pakistani agent, thereby allowing her to operate a WhatsApp account linked to the Indian number from Pakistan.

The ATS brought Gohil in for questioning a few days ago after receiving a tip-off. His mobile phone was sent for forensic examination. “Forensic analysis revealed that both the numbers on which Gohil used to share the information are currently being operated from Pakistan. We also learnt that he had received ₹40,000 in cash from an unidentified person sometime ago for sharing that information,” the SP added.

Following the investigation, the ATS registered an FIR against Gohil and the Pakistani agent under sections 61 (criminal conspiracy) and 148 (waging war against the government) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
