Kolkata Gang Rape Accused Filmed Crime To Threaten Me: Law Student In Complaint
Kolkata Incident: A law student was gang-raped and blackmailed with video footage inside South Calcutta Law College. Three accused, including an ex-TMCP leader, have been arrested.

In a chilling reminder of the RG Kar doctor murder, a first-semester student of South Calcutta Law College was allegedly gang-raped, filmed, and threatened by three individuals inside the college campus in Kolkata's Kasba area. The incident has sparked outrage, drawing parallels to earlier high-profile assault cases in the city.
The prime accused, Manojit Mishra (31), is a former unit president of the Trinamool Congress student wing (TMCP) and a temporary staffer at the college. The other two accused are current students of the institution — Pramit Mukhopadhyay and Jayed Ahmed. All three have been arrested.
Crime Recorded For Blackmail
According to the survivor's statement, she was first molested inside the college's union room by Manojit, who allegedly tried to emotionally manipulate her with a fake marriage proposal. Later, she was allegedly forcibly taken to a nearby guardroom, where she was gang-raped after refusing his sexual advances. During the assault, the accused allegedly recorded videos of the act without her consent.
The ordeal didn't end there. The survivor told police that the accused threatened to circulate the footage on social media if she reported the incident. The blackmail attempt was reportedly aimed at silencing her and preventing legal action.
The student managed to escape from the college premises late at night and inform her family, following which a police complaint was filed at Kasba Police Station. Manojit and Jayed were arrested in Talbagan on Thursday night, while Pramit was nabbed soon after.
The trio were slapped with BNS sections 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 70(1) (gangrape), and 3(5) (common intention in criminal acts), reported The Indian Express.
