'Kejriwal Will Remain CM': What Atishi Said After Being Chosen To Helm Delhi Affairs
Atishi thanked 'guru' Kejriwal after she was named the new CM of Delhi.
In her first media interaction after being elected as the new Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi on Tuesday said residents of the national capital are very sad over Arvind Kejriwal's resignation from the top post. She asked people to not congratulate her or garland her as "it was a sad hour" for Delhi when its beloved Chief Minister Kejriwal had to resign.
Thanking her 'guru' Kejriwal, Atishi said the AAP supremo will "remain CM of Delhi", and she will run the government under his leadership.

"First of all, I would like to thank the popular CM of Delhi, AAP national convener and my guru - Arvind Kejriwal. He gave me such a huge responsibility and trusted me for it. This can be done only in AAP, only under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, that a first-time politician becomes the CM of a state," she said.
The new Delhi CM noted that she comes from an ordinary family and had she been in any other party, perhaps "would not have been given even an election ticket."
"But Arvind Kejriwal trusted me, made me an MLA and a minister and today gave me the responsibility of the CM. I am happy that Arvind Kejriwal placed such trust in me. But I am also sad because Delhi CM and my elder brother, Arvind Kejriwal is resigning today. On behalf of all AAP MLAs and the 2 crore people of Delhi, I would like to say that there is just one CM of Delhi - Arvind Kejriwal," she added.
Calling Kejriwal's resignation from the CM post an "unparalleled" incident in the history of the country's democracy, Atishi said the people of Delhi are sad about the move. "I will work for the next few months towards the goal of bringing back Kejriwal as Delhi chief minister. I will work under Arvind Kejriwal's guidance, and protect the people of Delhi," she added.
