Truck Carrying Kanwariyas Overturns Near Rishikesh, 3 Critical
Three kanwariyas are in critical condition and have been referred to a higher health centre, officials said.

A truck carrying kanwariyas from Rishikesh to Gangotri overturned near Narendra Nagar in Uttarakhand on Wednesday, injuring several devotees. Three kanwariyas are in critical condition, officials said.
The injured were first taken to the Fakot Primary Health Centre for urgent medical attention. Those with critical injuries have been referred to AIIMS Rishikesh and a hospital in Narendranagar for specialised treatment.

Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police, and district administration rushed to the site soon after the incident was reported. A rescue operation was launched to locate and assist all victims.
According to preliminary information, the truck was transporting around 15 to 17 Kanwar pilgrims when the accident occurred. SDRF personnel are continuing their search to ensure no one remains trapped.
CM Dhami Assures All Help
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief over the incident. In a post on social media platform X, he wrote:
“Sad news has been received about a truck accident near Jajal Fakot on the Rishikesh-Gangotri Highway. I pray to God for the peace of the souls of those who lost their lives in the accident and for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
He added that district authorities have been instructed to ensure all possible medical support for those injured.
