5 Children Die As Mysterious Disease Grips Village In Jharkhand's Sahibganj
A mysterious disease in Jharkhand's Sahibganj district has claimed the lives of five children in a week, with 22 others exhibiting malaria-like symptoms.

In a shocking development, five children have died in a week due to a mysterious disease that has gripped a village in Jharkhand's Sahibganj district.
Officials said that as many as 22 other people also have reportedly showed malaria-like symptoms such as yellowing of the eyes, cold, cough, fever and headache.
The officials added that samples of blood has been taken from the village and been sent to Dhanbad for further examination.
As soon as the information about the disease was received, a medical team reached Nagarbhita village on Sunday and organized a health check-up camp and took blood samples of the people living in the village.
A health official said that the blood samples have been sent to Dhanbad for examination and only after that it will be clear how the children died.
What Village Head Said?
Village head Maisa Pahariya said that after the death of three children of the same house due to the disease, people are living in fear and shock. He said that such an outbreak has never been seen in the village before.
Community Health Officer Ravi Kumar Jatav said that the medical team gave medicines for cold, cough, fever and ORS packets to the people infected with the disease. He said that they have sent blood samples of men, women and children of the village for examination.
What Civil Surgeon Said?
Civil Surgeon Dr. Praveen Kumar Santhalia said that three medical teams have been sent to the village after receiving information about the disease. He said that samples of 22 people have been examined, in which symptoms of malaria have been found and the causes of the unknown disease are being ascertained. "The samples have been sent to the lab. High level medical facilities are being provided to the villagers", he said.
