'India Will Not Be Scared, Accused Will See Loud, Clear Response': Rajnath On Pahalgam Terror Attack

Rajnath Singh said the government will get to the bottom of the incident and ensure that those responsible for the terror attack are brought to justice without exception.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday vowed strong retaliation against perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack and said India will not be afraid of such attacks.

Rajnath Singh said the government will get to the bottom of the incident and ensure that those responsible for the terror attack are brought to justice without exception.

Terrorists struck a prime tourist location in Pahalgam in south Kashmir on Tuesday, killing at least 26 people, mostly tourists from other states.

"We lost many innocent lives in the cowardly act in Pahalgam. We are deeply distressed. I express my condolences to the families who lost their loved ones... I want to repeat India's resolve against terrorism. We have a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism," Rajnath said.

"I want to assure the countrymen that the government will take every step which is necessary and efficient. We will not only reach the perpetrators of this act but also the actors behind the scenes who have plotted such sinister plot," the defence minister said.

The union minister said that India will not be scared of such acts of terrorism.

"India is an old civilisation and a huge country. Such acts of terrorism cannot scare India in any way. The accused will soon see a loud and clear response, I want to assure the country," he said.

He further said that the terrorists attacked the victims in Pahalgam by identifying their religion.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also said that the country will not bend to terror and that those responsible for the killing of tourists at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir will not be spared.

After laying wreaths on the bodies of those killed in the terror attack, he said on X, "With a heavy heart, paid last respects to the deceased of the Pahalgam terror attack. Bharat will not bend to terror. The culprits of this dastardly terror attack will not be spared."
