Gulmarg Turns Into 'Wonderland’ After Fresh Snow, Parts Of Himachal Blanketed Under Ice — WATCH

Gulmarg area of J&K's Baramulla has also received fresh snowfall. Last month Gulmarg received its first snowfall of the season.

Heavy snowfall has blanketed the Lahaul and Spiti region of Himachal Pradesh and its surrounding areas on Sunday. Similarly, the Gulmarg area of J&K's Baramulla has also received fresh snowfall.

Last month on November 11 (Monday), Gulmarg received its first snowfall of the season. The Razdan Top in Bandipora district had also witnessed its first snowfall in the evening.

The snowfall of the season turned the Afarwat mountains into a stunning winter wonderland. It began on Monday afternoon and covered the peaks with a pristine layer of snow, much to the delight of locals and tourists alike.

IMD Predicts Rain Or Snow On Sunday, Monday

The Met Office on Saturday (December 7), predicted rain or snow at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday and Monday due to a fresh western disturbance over the western Himalayan region.

The department added that scattered to fairly widespread precipitation is likely to take place across the state on these two days while light to moderate rain or snowfall is likely at a few places in the Lahaul and Spiti, Kangra, Shimla, Chamba, Kinnaur, and the Kullu districts.

PTI cited IMD prediction that light precipitation is expected in a few places in the Solan, Bilaspur, Sirmaur, Una, Mandi, and Hamirpur districts on Monday and Tuesday, and light rain or snowfall at isolated places over the mid and high hills till Tuesday.

The Meteorological Department has issued a 'yellow' warning for isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur districts on Sunday. Dense fog is anticipated in parts of the Bhakra Dam reservoir area in Bilaspur and the Balh Valley in Mandi on Tuesday.  

Cold conditions have intensified across the state, with minimum temperatures dropping by 2–4 degrees Celsius in several locations, remaining 3–4 degrees below normal.  

Tabo recorded the lowest temperature in the state at minus 8.9°C, followed by Kukumseri at minus 6.6°C, Sumdo at minus 2.9°C, Kalpa at minus 1.6°C, and Bhuntar at 0.4°C.  

Freezing temperatures caused water pipes to freeze in some higher-altitude areas, while high-altitude tribal regions faced a severe cold wave with temperatures ranging from minus 8°C to minus 12°C. Meanwhile, maximum temperatures remained steady, with Una recording a high of 25°C.
