Three people from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh have been arrested for allegedly acquiring hacked videos of women patients and selling them on YouTube and Telegram.

The Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Police on Wednesday has arrested three persons from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh for allegedly acquiring hacked videos of women patients and selling the clips through YouTube and Telegram.
As per the information shared by the police, the accused Prajwal Ashok Teli and Prajapati Rajendra Patil belong from Maharashtra while Chandraprakash Phoolchand belongs from Uttar Pradesh. All of them are aged between 20 and 25 years and were arrested by separate police teams. Sharad Singhal, Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP), Ahmedabad City Police said that the accused are being transported to Ahmedabad on transit remand.
The matter came to light during social media monitoring by the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Police, which immediately filed an FIR on behalf of the State under the provisions of Information Technology Act on February 17.
“The accused were in touch with overseas hackers in Romania and Atlanta (in US). They had hacked the CCTV of Payal Maternity Home hospital in Rajkot and uploaded videos using Telegram and YouTube channels. They took one-time payment using UPI for transactions,” JCP Singhal told Hindustan Times.
“As per our initial investigation we suspect that they have hacked CCTV footage of malls, commercial shops and hospitals in other parts of the country as well,” he added.
In the videos, women patients could be seen being examined inside a closed room of a hospital by a female doctor or being given injection by a nurse. A few clips were subsequently shared by three YouTube channels, with the description carrying a link to a Telegram group. In that Telegram group, Rs 2,000 was sought per video, officials said.
Earlier, in February, a family from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh was demanded to pay Rs 6 crore by the perpetrators and threatened that intimate footage will be released if they did not comply to do so. As per the details, the incident was reported from an upscale apartment society. The couple was distressed when they saw the private footage, which was secretly recorded in their bathroom, in a message received from a certain mobile number. The investigation revealed a surveillance operation, with police discovering a concealed camera installed through a deliberately created opening in the bathroom's false ceiling.
In December 2024, the director of a school in Uttar Pradesh's Noida was arrested for placing a spy camera in the bulb socket of the teachers' washroom. The spy camera was specifically designed to be placed inside a bulb holder, which made it undetectable. It reportedly enabled him to watch live footage of those who entered the washroom through his mobile phone and computer. According to media reports, the director, Navnish Sahay, live streamed the footage from the teachers' washroom directly to his personal devices. The incident took place at a play school named Learn with Fun in Noida's Sector 70. The camera was disclosed when one of the teachers noticed the camera and alerted the police.
