UP: Out To Get Relief From Heat, Mother-Daughter Duo Killed As Car Runs Over 7 In Gorakhpur
A high-speed car ran over seven women and children in Gorakhpur, killing at least two and injuring five. The victims were sitting by the road outside their houses when the car crashed into them.

A high-speed car late on Friday night ran over at least seven women and children in Gorakhpur. Five persons were injured in the accident. The accident occurred around 11:30 PM in Bhagwanpur village of Bhathat block under the Gulriha police station area of Gorakhpur.
A woman and her daughter died on the spot, while the five others were critically injured.
How Did The Accident Occur?
The victims were sitting by the road outside their houses, trying to get some relief from the heat. Suddenly, the car, a KIA Sonet, came at them at high speed, went out of control, and crashed into them. Alarmed by the screams, neighbours and passersby rushed to the spot and informed the police.
The police sent the injured to BRD Medical College, where doctors declared Jannatun Nisha (44) and her daughter Jheena (16) dead.
Maryam Khan (18), Rabia Khatoon (23), Nihal (5), Zubair (17) and Subrati (16) were seriously injured. All the injured are being treated at the Medical College.
Case Of 'Drunk Driving'
According to local media reports, the car had four occupants, who were returning from a wedding. All four occupants were allegedly drunk. Three men in the car managed to escape, while the fourth was caught by the locals and handed over to the police.
