Delhi Records Hottest Day This Year On Holi, IMD Forecasts Rain Before Intense Rise In Temperature

Delhi weather forecast: Cloudy skies with light rain or drizzle have been forecast by the IMD on Saturday. The temperature is likely to rise further soon.

Delhi Weather Update: Despite the light rain in Delhi-NCR on Holi, there has been no relief from the rising temperature. Friday was the hottest day of the year in the national capital region. The maximum temperature recorded was 36.2 degrees Celsius, which is 7.3 degrees above normal.

However, a yellow alert for rain in Delhi-NCR issued by the India Meteorological Department has raised hopes of the temperature going down.

Light rain was observed in the evening in parts of South, South-West, Central and West Delhi as well as Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad. Prior to this, Delhi recorded its highest temperature of 34.8 degrees Celsius on March 11 this year. The IMD has forecast cloudy skies and light rain, drizzle, and thunderstorm on Saturday. The department said that the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 34 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius, respectively.

When Will There Be Relief From The Rising Heat?

The IMD forecast rain between 13 and 15 March, especially on Holi.

According to the India Meteorological Department, temperatures are likely to increase rapidly from March 18 onwards. The minimum temperature is forecast to be between 16 and 17 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature between 33 and 34 degrees Celsius. A brief relief may come on March 16 and 17.
