Delhi Couple, Kids Aged 12 & 4, Killed In Car Crash While Returning From Maha Kumbh Mela

Delhi News: A couple from Delhi and their two children, who were returning from Maha Kumbh Mela, were killed after their car crashed on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in the Fatehabad area in the early hours of Monday.

The family members were returning home after taking a dip at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. They were residents of Uttam Nagar in the national capital.

Ompraksh Singh, aged 42, lost control of the car at around 12.30 am on Monday, following which the car jumped the road divider and crashed into a truck coming from the opposite side of the expressway, PTI reported quoting police officials.

Singh, his wife Purnima, 34, their daughter Ahana, 12, and four-year-old son Vinayak died on the spot, Assistant Commissioner of Police Amar Deep said. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and their family members have been informed.

"Preliminary investigation suggests that the driver might have dozed off leading to the accident," the officer said.

Recent Accidents Involving Maha Kumbh Pilgrims

Recently, tragedy struck a Pune-based family headed for the Maha Kumbh Mela when their SUV crashed into a culvert in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Amar Ujala reported. Three people, including two women, were killed in the accident, which is suspected to have occurred because of the driver dozing off at the wheel. The deceased have been identified as Vinod Patel, 50, his wife Shilpa, 47, and his sister-in-law Neeru Patel. 48. Neeru’s husband Naresh Patel was grievously injured.

 At least three people, including an Armyman, were killed in Varanasi on Saturday morning, while on their way back to Dhanbad, Jharkhand, after attending the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
