Delhi BJP Chief Distributes Masks Outside Metro Station Amid Hazardous Air Quality — Watch

A few weeks ago, Sachdeva was admitted to the RML Nursing Home after he took a dip in the heavily polluted Yamuna River.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal distributed face masks to the public at the Central Secretariat Metro Station near Parliament in the national capital as the air quality remained in the 'Severe Plus' category on Monday.

A few weeks ago, Sachdeva was admitted to the RML Nursing Home after he took a dip in the heavily polluted Yamuna River. He complained of itching and breathing difficulties and faced skin rashes and slight discomfort in breathing for which he was examined at the RML Hospital.

The Delhi BJP chief took a dip in the Yamuna at the Chhath Ghat and slammed former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his "failure" to fulfil his promise to clean the river by 2025. After taking the dip, Mr Sachdeva faced skin rashes and slight discomfort in breathing for which he was examined at the RML Hospital where the doctors prescribed him medicines for three days.

Delhi Records Season's Worst Air Quality

Delhi woke up to the worst air quality of this season as the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 484 at 9 am on Monday. Smog covered the national capital in the morning hours and the visibility at Palam dropped to 150 metres at 7 am.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) invoked stricter pollution control measures for the Delhi-NCR under Stage 4 of the anti-pollution plan Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), which comes into effect from 8 am.

No trucks will be allowed into Delhi except for those carrying essential items or using clean fuel (LNG/CNG/BS-VI diesel/electric). Non-essential light commercial vehicles registered outside Delhi will also be prohibited, except for EVs and CNG and BS-VI diesel ones.
