Big Jolt To AAP In Delhi As 13 Councillors Resign, Rebels To Float Separate Political Party
In a major setback for AAP, 13 Delhi councillors quit to form Indraprastha Vikas Party. The rebels included MCD leader Mukesh Goyal. Three AAP councillors had joined the BJP in February.

In a huge blow to the Aam Aadmi Party, 13 councillors resigned from its primary membership. The rebel councillors are likely to float a separate party under the leadership of Mukesh Goyal, who was the leader of the House for AAP in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
All the municipal councillors resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party and decided to form a new outfit — Indraprastha Vikas Party.

The councillors who resigned are Mukesh Goyal, Hemchand Goyal, Dinesh Bhardwaj, Himani Jain, Usha Sharma, Sahib Kumar, Rakhi Kumar, Ashok Pandey, Rajesh Kumar, Anil Rana, Devendra Kumar, and Himani Jain.
The jolt hit AAP just three months after three other councillors — Anita Basoya (Andrews Ganj), Nikhil Chaprana (Hari Nagar) and
Dharamvir (R K Puram) — joined the BJP.

Why Did The Councillors Quit AAP?
As per various news reports, the councillors said that they were elected to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in 2022 on Aam Aadmi Party tickets. But despite coming to power in the MCD, the top leadership of the party was unable to run the Delhi Municipal Corporation smoothly.
The top leadership had almost no coordination with the municipal councillors, due to which the party had to sit in the Opposition in the assembly. Councillor Himani Jain said, "In the last 2.5 years, no work was done in the corporation. We were in power, yet we did nothing. We have formed a new party because our ideology is to work for the development of Delhi. We shall support the party which will work for the development of Delhi. So far, 15 councillors have resigned. More may join."
