CBI Arrests Delhi Police Inspector, Sub-Inspector For Accepting Rs 10 Lakh Bribe

The CBI arrested an inspector and a sub-inspector posted at the Burari police station in Delhi for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh on Tuesday.

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday arrested Inspector Sandeep Ahlawat and one sub-inspector of Delhi police for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh. According to CBI, the accused police officers had demanded Rs 1.5 crore from a person to help him in a case.

The Delhi Police officers were posted at Burari Police Station in North Delhi.

"The CBI arrested an inspector and a sub-inspector posted at the Burari police station here for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh on Tuesday," news agency PTI reported citing officials said.

Sub-Inspector Bhupesh Kumar was nabbed while he was receiving a part payment of Rs 10 lakh of a total demand of Rs 1.5 crore on behalf Inspector Sandeep Ahlawat, following which Ahlawat was also arrested.

After their arrest, the CBI conducted searches at the residences of the duo after their arrest.

2 Railway Officials Among 3 Arrested By CBI For Accepting Bribe

Last week, the CBI Mumbai unit arrested three accused, including two railway officials working with a rail-coach manufacturing unit located in Uttar Pradesh, in connection with an alleged bribery case. The CBI acted on a complaint filed by a promoter of a Mumbai firm that supplies medical and pharmacy products.

The accused, including Chief Depot Material Superintendent (CDMS) & a Ward Officer of Modern Coach Factory, Raebareli and a private person, had demanded and accepted bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant to clear the consignments supplied by his company.

"It was alleged that accused officers from Modern Coach Factory (MCF), Raebareli demanded bribe for approval of items (safety spectacles) supplied by complainant’s trading firm, having office at Prabhadevi, Mumbai in response to online tender floated by MCF, Raebareli. In compliance of said purchase order, the complainant allegedly had earlier dispatched bulk supply of items to MCF," CBI said in a statement.

The complaint was allegedly called several times by the accused who demanded bribe to approve his material. However, the complainant neglected thei demand, following which he was served a letter of rejection.

When he complained about it, the CBI laid a trap and asked the complainant to transfer Rs 30,000 through G-pay. The payment was confirmed by the accused, and the CBI arrested all three of them at Raebareli. CBI also conducted searches at their residential and official premises during which they found incriminating documents. Further investigation into the case is underway.
