BJP Lawmakers Demand Closure Of Meat Shops During Navratri In Delhi
BJP MLA Ravinder Singh Negi has demanded the closure of meat shops during Navratri in Delhi. Another BJP MLA, Neeraj Basoya, has also made a similar demand.

BJP MLA Ravinder Singh Negi has demanded the closure of meat shops during the upcoming Navratri festival across the national capital.
Speaking to ANI, BJP MLA from Patparganj assembly said, "... A few days ago, when I went to the temple on Tuesday, I saw that a meat shop was open right in front of the temple. I felt very bad seeing this, so I requested the traders to close the shops outside the temples on Tuesday. They readily accepted, and now shops have started closing on Tuesday in Patparganj..."

“Navratri comes twice a year and for us Sanatanis, it is a sacred festival dedicated to Maa Durga. We will request everyone to shut meat shops during these nine days,” Negi said.
He later added that that he plans to write to the District Magistrate (DM), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), and Commissioner to formalize this request.
What another BJP MLA, Neeraj Basoya, Said?
A similar demand was made by Neeraj Basoya, another BJP MLA, who stated that meat stores have to be shut down during Navratri. "Meat shops should be closed during Navratri. These meat shops should not be in residential areas. These meat sellers indulge in hooliganism. We will write a letter to close meat shops in residential areas", Basoya said.
The Chaitra Navratri, a significant Hindu festival dedicated to Goddess Durga, will begin on March 30 and conclude on April 6.
