Bihar: 6 Children Drown While Bathing In Sone River, 1 Missing As Another Rescued

Sasaram (Bihar): Six children drowned while bathing in Sone river in Bihar's Rohtas district on Sunday, officials said.
One child was missing while another was rescued by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
"The incident took place in Tumba village when eight children were taking a bath in Sone river in the morning. According to villagers, the children slipped into deep waters," Rohtas District Magistrate Udita Singh told PTI.
"Police officials along with SDRF personnel launched a search operation. The SDRF personnel fished out six bodies and one child was still missing. One child was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital and he is out of danger," Singh added.
Search operation is underway to trace the missing child, she said.
"All children were in the age group of 10-12 years. We are trying to ascertain the identity of the deceased. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination," the official added.
UP man drowns in pond, divers recover body after 4 hours
The body of a 38-year-old man was fished out of a pond after a four-hour operation in Uttar Pradesh's Etawah district on Saturday, police said.
The incident took place in the Ursahar police station area around 2 pm, Station House Officer (SHO) Mansoor Ahmed said.
The SHO said the victim was identified as Mithun Kumar, a resident of the town, who went into the pond to take a bath.
Villagers working near the pond noticed him missing for long and spotted his belongings on the shore. They then alerted his family and the authorities, Ahmed said.
A search and rescue operation was launched, involving police officers and divers, he added.
After four hours of intensive effort, the divers were able to recover Kumar's body from the pond, the officer said, adding that the body has been sent for postmortem.
