Bengaluru Man Pushed To Death From Moving Train After Fight Over Seating Space Near Toilet
The unidentified victim, who was traveling in the crowded coach, approached the accused in the train’s general coach, who were seated near the toilet and requested space to sit.

A heated argument over seating space near a train toilet turned fatal on Tuesday evening when an unidentified man was pushed off the Yesvantpur-Bidar Express, leading to his death. The Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested two individuals—Devappa, 45, a gardener, and Peerappa, 31, a painter, both from Kalaburagi—on charges of murder in connection with the incident.
The event unfolded between 7:25 p.m. and 7:35 p.m. in the train’s general coach, according to a report on Indian Express. According to police, the victim, who was traveling in the crowded coach, approached the accused, who were seated near the toilet, and requested space to sit. However, Devappa and Peerappa refused, sparking a verbal altercation that quickly escalated.
Eyewitnesses stated that the victim attempted to sit in the narrow passageway near the toilet, but the accused allegedly became aggressive, as per a report on The New Indian Express. During the argument, which occurred between Yelahanka and Gauribidanur stations, the two men reportedly assaulted the victim and pushed him out of the moving train. Kumar MG, a passenger who witnessed the incident, immediately alerted the police by calling helpline number 112.
The GRP rushed to the scene on Tuesday night but was unable to locate the victim’s body due to darkness and uncertainty about the exact location. The body was discovered on Wednesday morning and has since been moved to the mortuary at Victoria Hospital for further examination.
Devappa and Peerappa claimed during interrogation that the victim had nearly sat on one of them, which led to the confrontation, reported Times of India. However, eyewitness accounts and preliminary investigations suggest that the altercation was triggered by the victim’s attempt to find seating in the overcrowded coach. The accused allegedly assaulted the man before pushing him out of the train door.
The duo initially tried to flee the spot but the cops arrested them in the railway premises.
