Bareilly: Serial Killer Nabbed After 6 Middle-Aged Women Strangled In Year-Long Murder Spree

Bareilly Police have arrested Kuldeep Kumar, a suspect linked to the murders of six middle-aged women over the past year. His arrest was made using CCTV footage, decoy tactics, and phone data analysis.

Bareilly Police have apprehended a suspect believed to be responsible for a series of murders targeting middle-aged women in the district over the past year, officials announced on Friday. As per the police statements, Kuldeep Kumar, the killer has confessed his crime of killing six women. He was arrested with the help of sketches and CCTV camera footage, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya said, PTI reported.

Arya added that the arrest followed a thorough investigation involving the review of CCTV camera footage, deployment of decoys, and analysis of mobile data.

The murders, which involved the strangulation of six middle-aged women in isolated areas, primarily in the Shahi and Sheeshgarh areas, were reported in 2023 and 2024. Murder cases were filed in connection with these incidents at the Shahi and Sheeshgarh police stations, the SSP further added.

Serial Killer Confesses To 6 High-Profile Murders: Bareilly Police

Kuldeep, whose age is around 35 years, was identified and arrested by a team from Shahi police station on Thursday near the banks of the Mathiya. His arrest came with the help of a tip and previously prepared sketches and videos, the SSP said.

The accused has confessed to committing all these high-profile murders, the district police chief confirmed. Initially, police had reported that nine women had been killed in the Shahi-Sheeshgarh area since last year and suspected the same person was responsible for strangling the victims.

Based on witness descriptions, the Bareilly police issued sketches of suspects a year ago. The most recent victim, Anita Devi from Haujpur village, was discovered with strangulation marks on July 2. The first victim, Kusma from Khajuria village, was killed nearly a year ago on July 22.

Due to the lack of important leads, Inspector General of Police (Bareilly Range) Rakesh Singh took direct control of the investigation.
