French Cyclists On Way To Nepal Get Stranded In Bareilly Following Google Maps
Two French cyclists lost their way to Nepal after following incorrect Google Maps instructions, ending up in a village in Uttar Pradesh.

Two French tourists who were riding their way to Nepal on cycles following Google Maps were left stranded in a village in Uttar Pradesh after taking a wrong turn, said the police on Friday.
The tourists were cycling to Kathmandu from Delhi but got lost and reached Churaili Dam in Bareilly district. Some villagers spotted the tourists at night and took them to Churaili police outpost, reported PTI.
The cyclists were lodged at the village Pradhan's house for the night by police who sent them on their way on Friday with route instructions.
French citizens Brian Jacques Gilbert and Sebastian Francois Gabriel had come to Delhi from France by flight on January 7, said Baheri Circle Officer Arun Kumar Singh.

"They had to go to Kathmandu in Nepal via Tanakpur from Pilibhit. Both foreigners were waylaid by Google Maps in the dark. The app showed them a shortcut via Baheri in Bareilly, due to which they got lost and reached Churaili Dam," the CO said.
"When the villagers saw both the foreigners roaming on bicycles on a deserted road at 11 pm Thursday, they could not understand their language. To avoid any incident with the two foreigners, they took both of them to the Churaili police outpost," Singh said.
On being apprised about the matter, Senior Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya spoke to both the French tourists and instructed police to guide them to their destination.
"On receiving information that two French citizens, who were going to Nepal from Delhi by bicycle, had lost their way, the Baheri Police Station took immediate action and gave them the right direction and sent them safely to their destination," said the Bareilly Police in a post on X.
