Ayodhya Gang Rape Case: UP Police Start Proceedings For SP Leader Moeed Khan, Servant's DNA Tests

The Uttar Pradesh Police is conducting DNA tests in connection with the gang-rape of a 12-year-old girl in Ayodhya.

Ayodhya News: The Uttar Pradesh Police has started legal proceedings to conduct DNA tests in connection with the gang-rape of a 12-year-old girl in Ayodhya, allegedly by Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Moeed Khan and his employee Raju Khan. The minor victim underwent an abortion at Lucknow's Queen Mary’s Hospital in King George's Medical University (KGMU) on Wednesday and the sample of the foetus was taken for the DNA test which will help police in the investigation of the case.

As per sources, police have started the proceedings to collect the DNA samples of Moeed Khan-- who is lodged in Ayodhya jail-- and that of Raju, to ascertain the paternity of the featus. DNA FSL report of the accused, the victim and the fetus will be filed in the court to make a case against the two men.

Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav had recently demanded a DNA test to catch the culprits. The rape victim was referred from Ayodhya District Hospital to Queen Mary’s Hospital in Lucknow when the health of the girl deteriorated. 

Meanwhile, Moeed Khan's mobile phone has not been found yet. The police will also seek the Samajwadi Party leader's remand to interrogate him about his missing mobile phone.

The Ayodhya Gang Rape Case

In an incident that sparked widespread outrage, Samajwadi Party leader Moeed Khan and his servant Raju Khan allegedly raped the 12-year-old girl after luring her with a job at their bakery. They also recorded the misdeed. Reportedly, the case came to light when the girl complained of stomach ache to her family. 

Upon investigation, the minor was found to be pregnant. The police complaint said that both accused kept raping the girl for two months and also threatened to kill her if she told anyone. Moneed Khan and Raju Khan were later arrested by the police.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had also raised the issue in the state Assembly and said that no culprit would be spared. Earlier, the district administration had bulldozed the bakery of the accused Moeed Khan. Also, Food Safety Department officials raided the bakery of the accused, seized all the goods and sealed his bakery.
