Ahmedabad: After 14 Years, Man Arrested For Killing Same-Sex Partner, Hid Body Under Kitchen Sink
The crime branch reopened the investigation years later and tracked Desai down near Ahmedabad. He initially provided a false identity but later admitted his real identity.
A man has been arrested for killing his same-sex partner 14 years ago in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. After the murder, he concealed the body using mortar, police said on Saturday.
According to the city crime branch, following committing the crime, the accused identified as Ramesh Desai fled on victim Manish Sahay's moped, lived in Rajasthan for eight years, and later assumed a new identity to work at a hotel in Mumbai.

The crime branch’s release stated that Desai allegedly killed Sahay after an argument on June 29, 2010. He reportedly stripped the body, wrapped it in cloth and tape, and concealed it beneath sand and cement under the kitchen sink of their rented Ahmedabad home.
The decomposed body of Sahay was discovered days later. Due to the case's sensitive nature, the crime branch reopened the investigation years later, tracking Desai down near Ahmedabad while he was traveling from Mumbai to Rajasthan. Although he initially provided a false identity, he later admitted his real identity, police stated.
Two Got Into An Altercation: Police
As per the crime branch report, Desai informed the police about his same-sex relationship with Sahay. On the day of the murder, the two got into an altercation. Amid the fight, Desai hit Sahay with a brick, leading to a serious injury.
Police further explained that Desai fled and lived in Rajasthan for eight years after concealing the body in the same house. Later, he changed his name, created new identity documents, and obtained life insurance under his alias. In 2017, he shifted to Maharashtra permanently and was employed as a senior captain at a hotel in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, police said.
