The decomposed body of Sahay was discovered days later. Although he initially provided a false identity, he later admitted his real identity, police stated.

As per the crime branch report, Desai informed the police about his same-sex relationship with Sahay. On the day of the murder, the two got into an altercation. Amid the fight, Desai hit Sahay with a brick, leading to a serious injury.

Police further explained that Desai fled and lived in Rajasthan for eight years after concealing the body in the same house.
