The crime branch’s release stated that Desai allegedly killed Sahay after an argument on June 29, 2010. He reportedly stripped the body, wrapped it in cloth and tape, and concealed it beneath sand and cement under the kitchen sink of their rented Ahmedabad home.

The decomposed body of Sahay was discovered days later. Although he initially provided a false identity, he later admitted his real identity, police stated.

As per the crime branch report, Desai informed the police about his same-sex relationship with Sahay. On the day of the murder, the two got into an altercation. Amid the fight, Desai hit Sahay with a brick, leading to a serious injury.
