3 Killed, Dozens Injured As Buses Returning From Maha Kumbh Collide In Mathura

At least three persons were killed and more than two dozen passengers were injured on Tuesday after a double-decker bus returning from the Maha Kumbh collided with another stationary bus on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura. The stationary bus was also carrying pilgrims from the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.

The injured were taken to hospital for treatment. Two passengers standing outside the stationary bus were crushed and died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries during treatment.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shailesh Kumar Pandey told PTI that the accident took place when a bus returning from the Kumbh developed a technical snag on the expressway.

The driver had parked the bus on the roadside and sent someone to fetch spare parts. Meanwhile, another double-decker bus returning from Prayagraj rammed into the stationary bus while it was trying to overtake a car.
