11-Year-Old Deaf-Mute Girl Raped In UP's Rampur, Multiple Injuries And Burns On Private Parts

The girl was missing since had gone to relieve herself on Tuesday evening. She was later found naked and bleeding in the field, with bite marks and cigarette burn marks on her private parts.

An 11-year-old deaf-and-mute Dalit girl was allegedly raped in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur district. The girl was found lying unconscious in a field in the morning. The medical examination revealed she had multiple injuries on her body, including bite marks and cigarette burn marks on her private parts.

The girl, a resident of a village located within the Shahbad police station limits, was missing since had gone to relieve herself on Tuesday evening. She was later found naked and bleeding in the field. Police informed her family members about her condition after finding her, news agency PTI reported.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Jaipal Singh said the survivor was rushed to a hospital, and her condition is said to be stable.

'Most Horrific Sexual Crime'

According to a report by NDTV, police arrested an accused after an encounter, during which he sustained a bullet injury in his leg.

Police scanned the CCTV cameras in the area and identified a suspect from the same village. When cops tried to take Dan Singh (24) into custody, he opened fire and was injured in retaliatory firing.

The doctor who conducted the girl's medical examination told The Times of India: "This is a clear case of rape by one or more persons as there were multiple injuries on her private parts. Her face had been struck with a blunt object, leaving it swollen."

The girl's clothes were also found to be blood-stained. "She was terrified and unable to explain anything. It is one of the most horrific sexual crimes I have seen," she added.

Rampur police chief Vidya Sagar Mishra said the girl's mother filed an application to the police, saying that her daughter was sexually assaulted.

Police Register FIR

An FIR has been registered on a complaint from the rape survivor and relevant sections of the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Three teams have been formed by the superintendent of police to probe the case.

"We registered a case and arranged for the girl's medical examination. Three teams were formed to track down the accused. When we tried to arrest him, he opened fire at the police team. Police fired in self-defence and he suffered a bullet injury. We have electronic evidence against the accused. The girl is being treated," Additional SP Atul Kumar Srivastava told TOI.

The senior officer said that the arrested accused can be seen talking to the survivor outside her home. "He then convinces her into accompanying him somewhere where she was raped," he said.
