In a somber moment for the Indian IT community, Vineet Nayyar, the esteemed former Executive Vice Chairman of Tech Mahindra, breathed his last today at the age of 85. His profound impact on the industry and his legacy as an institution builder garnered heartfelt tributes from across various sectors.
NASSCOM, the apex body for the IT industry, took to social media to express its condolences, stating, "We will always remember the significant contributions of Vineet Nayyar, former Executive Vice Chairman of Tech Mahindra. His visionary leadership and dedication have left an indelible mark on the industry. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues."
CP Gurnani, former MD and CEO of Tech Mahindra, lamented Nayyar's passing, describing him as "one of India's finest leaders" and expressing personal grief at the loss of a mentor and guide.
Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, reminisced about Nayyar's pivotal role in shaping the organisation's journey, from his days at Tech Mahindra to the fruition of Mahindra University. Born in 1939, Vineet Nayyar's illustrious career spanned from the Indian Administrative Services to senior positions at the World Bank before transitioning to the private sector. He assumed the role of Chairman of Mahindra Satyam in 2009, leaving an enduring imprint on the industry.
