Edelweiss MF's Radhika Gupta Highlights Top 3 Expectations For Budget 2024

Gupta emphasised three key areas that she believes the government should prioritise in the Union Budget 2024 to stimulate the economy. She also asked people in the post to share their expectations

Just a few days ahead of the Union Budget 2024, Radhika Gupta, CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Funds, took to Instagram to outline her expectations for Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's upcoming budget presentation. Gupta emphasised three key areas that she believes the government should prioritise in the new budget to stimulate the economy. The Union Budget 2024 will be presented in the parliament on July 23 at 11 am.

In a video shared on Sunday, Gupta called for an extra emphasis on capital expenditure and infrastructure development. “We all know how much infrastructure India needs, and every rupee spent on infrastructure and capital expenditure has a multiplier impact on our economy," Gupta said.

The second point she mentions is prioritising employment and youth skills development. “Our biggest demographic advantage is our young people, and we need to provide them with skills and jobs over the next few years and decades,” said the Shark Tank India judge.

Her third expectation focused on ensuring stability in capital markets. “A lot of money has come into equity markets via stocks, mutual funds into SIPs. We need to ensure an environment of stable taxation. In fact, incentives for our young people in har-ghar (every household) to invest,” the CEO opined.

She also asked people in the post to share their expectations for the upcoming budget, and a lot of Instagram users shared the same. One comment reads, “Need more emphasis on Green Hydrogen like schemes for Production, storage, and transportation of it. 2) Need more enhanced infra for subsidised education 3) (This one is not expected from any govt but I want to say) Lower tax rate but tax to all . During Earlier period of kings ERA, there used to be only consumption based taxation and not Income based. And I feel Income based taxation should be abolished and consumption based taxation should be increased slightly. that it from my end.”

As the Finance Minister prepares to present the Budget 2024 tomorrow, expectations are pouring in from every corner. From Tax relief to enhanced schemes, people are looking forward to many things in the upcoming Union Budget 2024.
