"Today I turn 34. And I have just crossed Rs 4 crore in personal savings," the post began. The techie clarified there was no windfall, no inheritance, just a decade of determined effort

A 34-year-old tech professional from a small Indian village shared their journey of grit, financial discipline, and self-belief culminating in personal savings of Rs 4 crore has captured the hearts of thousands online. The anonymous user’s Reddit post, shared on the r/noida subreddit to mark their birthday, quickly went viral for its authenticity and inspiration.

"Today I turn 34. And I have just crossed Rs 4 crore in personal savings," the post began. The techie clarified there was no windfall, no inheritance — just a decade of determined effort and modest living.

A Father’s Words, A Life’s Direction

Raised in a Hindi-medium school with a daily-wage labourer father, the techie reflected on childhood marked by scarcity, recalling the emotional and physical toll of growing up poor. Despite challenges, their father’s encouragement remained a guiding force. “The day people know me because of you, I will feel proud,” was the line that stayed with him.

They recounted the longing to fit in, not for luxury, but for normalcy, like being able to afford a simple branded T-shirt. The turning point came when they discovered computers, sparking a passion that would define their career path.

Ten Years Of Purpose And Planning

After entering the tech industry, the focus remained on savings and self-improvement. The Redditor taught themselves personal finance and trading through online resources and books, without formal mentorship.

Though they now own a car and bike, homeownership isn’t a priority. “More than the material things, I am proud that I have created a life my father would be happy to see,” the post read.

Concluding with a message for others who feel limited by their background, the techie wrote: “You do not need fluent English or an elite degree. You just need hunger, consistency, and belief in yourself.”

“Wow OP a big W. I am 20 years old and come from a middle-middle class family. We used to have a car but in the covid time my father sold it to meet the needs. Till this day we are planning to buy one but can't buy one you surely did some great work,” wrote one of the users.

A second user added, “That’s very impressive. Congratulations! I am just about to enter 40s but with 1cr in debt. I know I can’t blame anybody but myself. I promise myself that I should not only be debt free by the time I am 45, but should be a position to retire happily, do what I love, lead a stress free life and see places that I could only dream of. Wish me luck!”
