Reliance Announces Family Support & Welfare Scheme To Help Kin Of Covid Deceased Employees

Nita Ambani, chairperson of Reliance Foundation, on June 2nd announced that the company will give Rs 10 lakh to the grieving family members of all off-roll employees who have succumbed to Covid-19.

Mumbai: The second wave of the Covid-19 has devastated many families forever, while some lost the only breadwinner in their family, many children lost both parents putting them in a very vulnerable position. Central & State government have announced various schemes for such severe cases. Now, the Indian multinational conglomerate, Reliance Industries Limited has announced the 'Family Support & Welfare Scheme' for the family employees who lost their lives to Covid-19.

The move comes to help families cope with the grave loss they have had to suffer due to Covid-19.

Under the scheme, RIL has listed various measures:

  • The company will continue to provide the last drawn monthly salary for a period of five years to the nominee of the employees.
  • Reliance has promised to undertake full tuition fee, hostel accommodation, and book fee up to Bachelor’s degree at any institute in India for all children of the employee.
  • The company has also taken the any hospitalisation charge for the spouse, parents, and children (till the Bachelor’s degree of the children).
  • A special leave extension will be given employees in case they themselves or their kin contracted Covid so that they can recover both physically and emotionally.

Aside from this, Nita Ambani, chairperson of Reliance Foundation, on June 2nd announced that the company will give Rs 10 lakh to the grieving family members of all off-roll employees who have succumbed to Covid-19. A lumpsum payment of Rs 10 lakh directly to the nominee of the deceased to support and care for the grieving family. This contribution will be made through the Reliance Foundation.

Earlier, Reliance Industries (RIL) became India's largest producer of medical-grade liquid oxygen from a single location starting from scratch before the pandemic. At its refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in Jamnagar and other facilities, RIL now produces over 1000 metric tonnes (MT) of medical-grade liquid oxygen per day — or above 11% of India's total production – meeting the needs of nearly every one in ten patients.
