'Clear Focus On Boosting Economic Growth': PM Modi To Address B20 Summit India Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the B20 Summit India 2023 in New Delhi at 12 noon. The platform is bringing together policymakers, business leaders and experts from across the world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the B20 Summit India 2023 on Sunday which is expected to draw a diverse audience of more than 1,700 global business leaders and experts. The three-day summit, that commenced on Friday, gathered under the banner of Business 20 (B20), a pivotal G20 forum established in 2010 to voice the perspectives of the worldwide business community. The B20 platform is bringing together a wide range of stakeholders working in the business world, PM Modi said. The upcoming G20 Summit is slated for the following month. 

In a post on 'X', PM Modi wrote: "At 12 noon tomorrow, 27th August, I will be addressing the B20 Summit India 2023. This platform is bringing together a wide range of stakeholders working in the business world. It is among the most important G20 Groups, with a clear focus on boosting economic growth."

B20 Theme And Framework

The focal theme of this year's B20, as revealed by B20 India Chair N Chandrasekaran, is geared towards promoting responsible, innovative, sustainable, and equitable business practices. Chandrasekaran shared insights during a press briefing on Thursday, emphasising the event's significance and its resonance with the current global economic landscape.

The event's framework encompasses nine themes, seven task forces, and two action councils, all dedicated to addressing the needs of the world economy, society, and the Global South. Chandrasekaran underscored that one of the prominent task forces is centered around facilitating the digital transition and the widespread adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Chandrasekaran, also the Executive Chairman of Tata Sons, highlighted India's unique growth trajectory amid the prevailing global economic challenges. As the fifth-largest economy, India stands as a beacon of progress, not only in economic terms but also in the realm of infrastructure. He further pointed out India's distinctive position in domains such as energy transition, digital transformation, AI, and supply chain resilience, owing to the prevailing geopolitical dynamics.

The B20 initiative, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), witnessed the participation of key figures including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

A distinguished roster of global business leaders featured names such as Brad Smith, President and Vice Chairman of Microsoft; Michael Miebach, Chief Executive Officer of Mastercard; and Arvind Krishna, Chairman and CEO of IBM.
