The company last month said that the commercial flight operations Akasa Air will be launched in July instead of June.
Vinay Dube, CEO, Akasa Air, said, “As we get closer to the airline launch date, we can now confirm refined estimates on our timelines. We expect our first aircraft delivery by early June 2022, with the intention to start commercial operations in July 2022."
The airline, which will take off as a low-cost carrier, has placed an order for 72 Boeing 737MAX planes, which are fuel efficient.
The company has recently chosen the Cloud-enabled Navitaire Airline Platform to power its digital retailing strategy.
Akasa and Navitaire in a joint statement said that Navitaire Airline will leverage key solutions, including the New Skies order-based reservation and retailing system, Digital Platform, GoNow day-of-departure and SkyLedger revenue accounting systems.
Dube said the company has also started hiring people, setting up technology, creating processes and procedures, defining things related to customer value and proposition, and planning route network with airports.
Dube is also the founder and managing director of Akasa Air.
Currently, Akasa has more than 50 employees and has plans of international services in the future.
He said the Akasa eyes starting overseas flights in the second half of calendar year 2023 once there are 20 planes in its fleet.
