‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikar’ GST Reward Scheme To Launch Soon, Consumers Will Be Awarded Through Lucky Draws

The scheme is designed to incentivise customers who request for legitimate invoices from sellers during the B2C (business to consumer) purchase of goods or services.

The government is expected to soon launch it’s awaited ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikar’ scheme, revealed two government officials. The scheme will reward individuals for uploading their GST invoices on a mobile application.

In conversation with PTI, two anonymous officials noted that the new scheme will include a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore on a monthly or quarterly basis, which will be provided to individuals who upload invoices received from retailers or wholesalers on the app.

The app will be available for both IOS and Android users and will require users to upload the invoice with the GSTIN of the seller, invoice number, paid amount, and tax amount. The app will allow an individual to upload a maximum of 25 legitimate invoices in a month, with a minimum purchase amount of Rs 200, the official stated.

The scheme, which is in the final stages, will include more than 500 computerised lucky draws conducted on a monthly basis with prize money worth lakhs of rupees. While two lucky draws will be conducted quarterly with prize money worth Rs 1 crore. The scheme is expected to launch as soon as possible, potentially even as early as this month, the officials noted.

The government has already mandated electronic invoices for B2B transactions with annual turnover exceeding Rs 5 crore, in an attempt to curb GST evasion. The new scheme will help promote electronic invoice generation at the B2C level and will also allow the buyer to participate in the lucky draw on this basis, the report stated.

The official further noted that the scheme is designed to incentivise customers who request for legitimate invoices from sellers during the B2C (business to consumer) purchase of goods or services. The government hopes to promote tax compliance at the B2C level among businesses and consumers across the country through this scheme, the official added.

The technology platform which will allow consumers to register and upload invoices on a mobile application has been developed by the GST Network (GSTN). In addition to tax compliance, the scheme is aimed at increasing consumer spending and keeping a check on tax evasion, the officials stated.
