The election day measures are designed to ensure smooth electoral participation while maintaining essential services across the state.

Here's a detailed guide on what will be open and closed across the state on polling day:

Stock Markets

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE in Mumbai will observe a holiday in alignment with the elections. There will be no trading on November 20.

Offices

All government offices in Maharashtra will be closed. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also declared a paid leave for private-sector employees in Mumbai to encourage voter turnout. Emergency workers will be provided with a four-hour window to vote.

Banks

All banks in Maharashtra will be closed on November 20, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday schedule. However, digital banking services, including ATMs, Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platforms, and online banking, will remain operational, ensuring continuous access to financial services.

Educational Institutions

Schools, colleges, and other educational institutions will remain shut to allow students and staff the opportunity to vote. The closure is aimed at maximising voter participation.

Public Transport

Public transportation will function normally across Maharashtra. In Mumbai, local trains, Metro services, and BEST buses will operate throughout the day, with extended services running until midnight to ensure easy access to polling stations.

Liquor Shops

In accordance with election regulations, liquor shops throughout the state will be closed on polling day to maintain public order.

Healthcare Services

Hospitals, pharmacies, and emergency medical services will remain open to provide uninterrupted healthcare. Ambulance services will be available for emergencies.
