Go First Suspends Tickets Sales Till May 15, DGCA Directs Airline To Refund Existing Bookings

Aviation regulator DGCA on Thursday said that Go First has suspended the sale of tickets till May 15 and is working to refund or reschedule existing bookings for future dates, the report said

After canceling its flights till May 9 due to "operational reasons", cash-strapped airline Go First has suspended all its ticket sales till May 15, reported news agency PTI. The DGCA has asked the airline to refund or reschedule existing bookings for future dates. 

Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Thursday said that Go First has suspended the sale of tickets till May 15 and is working to refund or reschedule existing bookings for future dates, report said. 

At the same time Go First has cancelled its flights till May 9 due to "operational reasons". 

"Due to operational reasons, Go First flights until 9th May 2023 are cancelled. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and request customers to visit bit.ly/42ab9la for more info. For any queries or concerns, please feel free to contact us," the airline said in a tweet. 

DCGA on the other hand said, "Pursuant to the Show Cause Notice issued by DGCA to Go First dated May 2, 2023, Go First has sent their response wherein they have intimated that an application under Section 10 of the IBC has been filed by them before the NCLT. They have further intimated that they have temporarily suspended scheduled flight operations for a period of 3 days effective May 3 2023 and shall take further course of action as per the outcome of their application before NCLT."

"In addition, Go First has intimated that they have suspended sale of their flights till May 15, 2023 and are working to refund or reschedule for future dates, the passengers already booked to fly with them," DGCA said. 

The regulator also said, "DGCA has examined the response of Go First and has issued an order under the prevailing regulations directing them to process the refunds to passengers as per the timelines specifically stipulated in the relevant regulation."

"DGGA is committed to minimizing passenger inconvenience in view of the abrupt decision by Go First to suspend their scheduled operations without any prior intimation," it added. 

The Wadia group-owned airline, with liabilities worth Rs 11,463 crore, has sought voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings after the airline cancelled all its flights for three days starting from May 3.
