'Crypto Is 95 Percent Scam And Garbage': Dogecoin Creator's Tweet Leaves Elon Musk In Splits

Musk had earlier tweeted that Dogecoin has “potential as a currency.”

New Delhi: Cryptocurrency still remains a mystifying subject for many. More often than not, it would invite trolls on social media platforms due to its volatility and overall outlook among the masses. Dogecoin creator, who goes by the pseudonym Shibetoshi Nakamoto (@BillyM2k) on Twitter, posted a hilarious tweet that has a comparatively serious message for crypto enthusiasts. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who had informally adopted the name Dogefather to show support for the Shiba Inu meme-based coin, responded to the tweet in his inimitable way.

On May 17, Nakamoto posted a funny-yet-expletive-ridden tweet,  trying to address the reaction cryptocurrencies generally receive from people. Nakamoto wrote: “The reason why people think crypto is 95 percent scams and garbage and most crypto people are a******* is because crypto is 95 percent scams and garbage and most crypto people are a*******.”

While the tweet is clearly sarcastic, Nakamoto also offered a sound piece of advice to crypto enthusiasts: “Let’s change that. it starts with you — what you support, and how you behave.”

Nakamoto added, “Also note that the only people who are gonna react triggered and lash out to this tweet are the scammers and a*******.”

‘Dogefather’ Musk responded to the tweet with a ROFL emoji. Musk has always been a staunch supporter of cryptocurrencies and has often expressed his thoughts on the social platform in his own style.

On May 13, Musk had responded to another tweet by Nakamoto, who wrote, “The reason I like Dogecoin is because I know it is stupid.” To this, Musk replied that DOGE does have potential as a currency.

Nakamoto further replied to Musk’s comment, “Dogecoin is the future currency of Earth!”

Dogecoin was developed back in 2013 as a “joke,” but went on to become one of the most sought-after cryptos in the world, thanks to Musk’s support. It has been generally noted that whenever the billionaire entrepreneur tweets on Dogecoin, its prices swell up considerably every time, before ebbing down eventually.

As per CoinMarketCap, DOGE price stood at $0.00018 at the time of writing. As per Indian exchange WazirX, DOGE price stood at Rs 7.28.
