Cryptocurrency Price Today (May 1): Bitcoin Remains Above $94,000, VIRTUAL Becomes Top Gainer
Cryptocurrency price on May 1 quick take: The global market cap rose to $2.97 trillion.
Bitcoin (BTC), the world’s oldest and most valued crypto, remanded above the $94,000 mark early Thursday. Other popular altcoins — including the likes of Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Ripple (XRP), and Litecoin (LTC) — saw a mix of minor dips and gains as the overall Market Fear & Greed Index stood at 51 (Neutral) out of 100, as per CoinMarketCap data. Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUAL) became the biggest gainer, with a 24-hour jump of nearly 12 percent. The ALGO token turned out to be the biggest loser today, with a 24-hour dip of over 4 percent.
The global crypto market cap stood at $2.96 trillion at the time of writing, registering a 24-hour jump of 0.06 percent.

Bitcoin price stood at $94,812.95, registering a 24-hour jump of 0.02 percent, as per CoinMarketCap. According to Indian exchanges, BTC price stood at Rs 80.32 lakh.
Ethereum (ETH) Price Today
ETH price stood at $1,813, marking a 24-hour gain of 0.47 percent at the time of writing. Ethereum price in India stood at Rs 1.53 lakh.
Dogecoin (DOGE) Price Today
DOGE registered a 24-hour loss of 0.77 percent, as per CoinMarketCap data, currently priced at $0.1746. Dogecoin price in India stood at Rs 15.29.

Alankar Saxena, CTO and co-founder, Mudrex, told ABP Live, “Bitcoin quickly rebounded close to the $95,000 mark following a minor pullback triggered by a 0.3% contraction in US Q1 GDP. Bitcoin showed strong resilience at lower levels, fueled by continuing Bitcoin ETF inflows and increasing Whale accumulation. Notably, K33 Research reports that Bitcoin’s weekly volatility has dropped to a 563-day low, reinforcing its growing maturity as a global financial asset. BTC continues to face resistance above the $95,500 zone while support has moved back to $93,000. Solana is expected to gain traction after showing strong support near $140 levels, gaining 5% from the lows. SOL’s futures open interest is approaching ATH, indicating rising institutional participation.”
CoinSwitch Markets Desk noted, “The cryptocurrency market experienced a downturn, influenced by unfavorable U.S. economic indicators. Bitcoin (BTC) briefly surpassed $95,000 but retracted to approximately $94,779 following reports of a negative first-quarter GDP and weaker-than-anticipated employment data, signaling stagflation concerns. Ethereum (ETH) traded near $1,808, while XRP declined by 4% amid the SEC's decision to delay rulings on XRP and Dogecoin ETF applications. Despite the broader market's decline, with major cryptocurrency Index dropping 2%, certain assets demonstrated resilience.”
