'No Resume Needed': Bengaluru Tech Job Offering Rs 40 LPA Goes Viral; Here's What Netizens Said

Sudarshan Kamath of Smallest AI announced on X that the company is hiring a software engineer with zero to two years of experience for their office in Indiranagar

The founder of an AI company hiring in Bengaluru has sparked interest on the social media platform X by announcing that candidates' educational background and resumes are not required to apply for a role offering a salary of Rs 40 LPA (lakh per annum) with a five-day work-from-office schedule.

Sudarshan Kamath of Smallest AI announced on X that the company is hiring a software engineer with zero to two years of experience for their office in Indiranagar. He wrote, "We are looking to hire a top-notch full-stack engineer at Smallest AI... Send a brief 100-word introduction along with links to your best work to info@smallest.ai," stressing that "college doesn’t matter" and "a resume is not needed."

"Cracked engineers" refers to exceptionally skilled and talented software engineers who embrace change and new ideas. They are known for taking extreme ownership of the products they build—almost with a quasi-religious passion—and empowering their entire team. These engineers also have a deep love for what they do.

Netizens Reactions

Within hours of posting the job opening, Kamath's call for hires went viral, racking up nearly 3.5 lakh views and numerous comments. Many X users praised Kamath for prioritising skills over an impressive resume. However, some argued that the salary offered was too low for a "cracked engineer."

“cracked devs should not use shadcn components directly instead they should create their own components on top that, or create a centralised design system of components in the code base,” wrote one of the internet users.

A second user wrote, “Lol, not a single cracked engineer who are actually good at their stuff will work for such less salary. ESOPs are worthless untill something good happens and it's not LPA, it's just lacs.”

“Indira Nagar is such an expensive place that out of 15 lacs where in hand will be 1 lac approx, 35k will go just in accommodation in a sharing apartment plus groceries plus weekends plus education loan EMI or discretionary spending EMI. Feel yourself lucky if you can save 20k,” added a third user.
