Bank Holiday Today: Are Banks Across India Closed For Pongal, Makar Sankranti?

Customers are advised to plan their bank visits accordingly, especially in the affected regions, to avoid any inconvenience due to the holiday.

Banks in different regions of India will remain closed on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, due to the observance of multiple festivals and occasions, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar. These celebrations include Makar Sankranti, Uttarayana Punyakala, Pongal, Maghe Sankranti, Magh Bihu, and the Birthday of Hazrat Ali, all of which hold cultural and religious significance across various parts of the country.

As a result, banking services will not be available in certain cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Itanagar, Kanpur, and Lucknow, where local and regional holidays coincide with these events. This closure will affect regular banking activities such as transactions, account management, and other services on this day in these locations.

Customers are advised to plan their bank visits accordingly, especially in the affected regions, to avoid any inconvenience due to the holiday.
