Ashneer Grover's Legal Threat Forces Comedian Aashish Solanki To Remove Roast Video, Netizens Express Their Ire

The video, a part of Solanki’s ‘Pretty Good Roast Show’ series, featured Grover as the guest, where a panel of comedians along with Solanki were roasting the businessman

Ashneer Grover has landed in a new controversy after the BharatPe founder appeared in a roast video. The former Shark Tank India judge agreed to be a part of a roast video with comedian Aashish Solanki. However, once the video was uploaded, Grover not only asked for his part to be removed from the video, but made Solanki take down the whole episode from the internet.

The video, a part of Solanki’s ‘Pretty Good Roast Show’ series, featured Grover as the guest, where a panel of comedians along with Solanki were roasting the businessman. A roast is a format of comedy where an individual agrees to appear as the guest of honour and is subjected to jokes at his/her expense. The activity is aimed to amuse the audience.

Solanki’s video, which has now been removed from his YouTube channel, featured Grover. The trailer of the episode went viral with Solanki making fun of Grover’s exit from BharatPe.

In the clip, Solanki said, “TV pe log talent dikhane jaat hai, ye aukat dikha ke aa gaya. Samajh gaye kiski baat kar raha hoon main? Apni company se kaun nikala jata hai yaar (People show their talent on TV, he showed everyone his status. Which entrepreneur gets kicked out of their own company?).”

However, this didn’t go down well with Grover who threatened legal action and forced Solanki to remove the entire show. The comedian via a post on social media platforms, X and Instagram, said that he was taking down the video as he doesn’t have the funds to fight legal battles. “Ep 5 of Pretty Good Roast hata diya hai doston. Legal battle ladne ka paisa nahi hai. Sab show pe laga diya tha (The episode has been removed as I don't have money to fight a legal battle. I used up all of my money for this show),” the post read.’

The first edited version of the video without Grover which Solanki had to delete is still floating online.

The incident went viral and Netizens expressed their irritation with Grover's act. One user called him a hypocrite and wrote "Public unka doglapan janti hai (The people are aware of his hypocrisy)."

Another user said, "Jab guda nahi tha toh use aana hi nahi chahiye tha. Asli Doglapan toh isi ka hai. Juth mein duniya ko demoralize karta tha. (When he didn't have the guts, he shouldn't have come in the first place. This is real hypocrisy. He demoralises people with lies)."
