Adani Transmission Limited (ATL), the power transmission and distribution subsidiary of Adani Group, gets recognition for its contribution to the SEBI ICAI BRSR Back Testing Exercise. Adani Transmission voluntarily disclosed its first BRSR (Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report) in FY 2021-22, moving towards more exhaustive non-financial reporting practices and contributing majorly to the corporate sustainability journey.
The Sustainability Reporting Standards Board (SRSB) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), New Delhi recognised the firm, for creating a benchmark in this critical exercise.
In a press release, Adani Transmission said, "By embracing BRSR, ATL aims to effectively communicate sustainability objectives, position, and performance to the market. The company has completed aligned its business practices with sustainability goals and empowered investors and stakeholders to make informed decisions based on accurate and transparent information."
The recent move by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to make it mandatory for the top 1,000 listed companies to report on Business Responsibility and Sustainability is a game-changer for sustainability reporting in India. In response to this, ICAI is taking proactive measures to prepare professionals for the upcoming changes. By ensuring that professionals are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle sustainability reporting, ICAI is helping pave the way for a more sustainable future for India Inc.
BRSR plays a vital role in advancing sustainability efforts in India by promoting transparent and standardised disclosures on ESG parameters and sustainability-related risks and opportunities among listed companies.
ICAI has a strong tradition of service to the country towards sustainable as well as economic development. As a partner in nation-building, it constituted SRSB in February 2020 with the mission to formulate comprehensive, globally comparable, and understandable standards for measuring and disclosing non-financial information about an entity’s progress towards United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030.
