Upcoming Electric Cars In India In 2024: Top EVs To Look For Next Year
While 2024 could see a slurry of EV launches by global as well as domestic brands in India, the likes of the Tata Curvv, Mahindra XUV.e8, and Maruti eVX, are already making good market buzz.
Electric cars are steadily climbing up the sales charts and one of the biggest drawbacks till now has been the lack of choice in the EV space. That will be changed with next year bringing in a lot more choice for buyers while focussing on the compact SUV space. Although for this, most carmakers will focus on the premium end of the compact SUV space, at the moment with battery cost, this is the segment which makes sense in terms of the price for carmakers.
Tata Curvv
The Curvv would be placed above the Nexon EV in India and would be its flagship product until the Sierra comes along while getting a range of around 500km for the top-end version. It will be a dual motor set-up and will have all wheel drive while the base version will come with a single motor layout. The Curvv will be a coupe style SUV and would be similar to the concept shown sometime back with a lot of the design cues seen on the new Nexon EV while the muscular design would be the most radical one from Tata Motors yet.
Mahindra XUV.e8
Just like Tata Motors, Mahindra will also bring in its first full sized electric SUV to compete with the Harrier EV. The XUV.e8 will get styling similar to the XUV700 but will have differences with a full width LED light bar and a blanked off grille. It will be similar to the concept which has been earlier shown by Mahindra. The XUV.e8 will come with a 80kWh battery pack with all wheel drive too along with a good amount of power.
Maruti eVX
The first EV from Maruti will come towards the end of 2024 and would be a major product in terms of being an EV from the largest car-maker in India. The eVX is a born electric SUV and will be roughly the size of a Grand Vitara while it would have a range of about 550km with a 60kWh battery pack. Though there could be a smaller battery pack for the entry level version. We already saw the eVX in closer to production form recently and it will get styling which is different from other Maruti cars.
