Toyota Hilux Pick-Up CBU Truck To Be Launched In Feb 2022 — Know Specifications & Features

Being a CBU, the Hilux will come with a top-end 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine similar to the Fortuner.

The Hilux pick-up truck was long in consideration for India and finally, Toyota has firmed up plans for an early 2022 launch. The Hilux is a pick-up truck version of the Fortuner SUV sold here. India will get the latest Hilux with a double cab version and will have a different styling theme when compared to the Fortuner. It is different looking for sure and looks massive too. There is a new three-dimensional grille and LED headlamps which makes the pick-up more premium when compared to the earlier Hilux.

There are new 18-inch alloys for the new Hilux too. In terms of design, it is a massive pick-up all right and looks cool while the different looks from the Fortuner will make it stand out. Being a CBU, the Hilux will come with a top-end 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine similar to the Fortuner. There would be both manual and automatic on offer too.

Underneath it is a Fortuner-based hardcore off-roader hence it comes with a ladder-frame construction and 4x4 would be standard for the top-end fully loaded Hilux. New to the Hilux is an automatic limited-slip differential. Compared to the Fortuner, the Hilux is even better off-road while we will bring you a quick first drive soon. The interior is also different from the Fortuner in terms of design but also has more luxury features than the V-Cross- the only lifestyle pick-up on sale.

There is a new 8-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, LED lights, JBL premium audio system and more. The big question is price and we have come to know that the Hilux will most probably be a CBU in India with few variants and with a fully loaded trim mostly. Hence, the pricing would be much higher than the V-Cross at around Rs 35 lakh. But the appeal of the Hilux and the wide Toyota network should mean the pick-up truck segment in India would be picking up some action with Toyota entering the party.
