If Launched, Skoda Elroq Could Shake Up India's EV Market Against Tata Curvv And Hyundai Creta
The Elroq could cost upto Rs 30 lakh if it comes to India that is and would be above the Curvv EV which tops at just below Rs 22 lakh
Skoda India could consider bringing in the Elroq in India which is its ground-up electric compact SUV. The Elroq slots in below the Enyaq which would come first as a CBU import in India.
The all-electric model is the first for Skoda in the compact SUV space while it will have a range of around 560 km. The Elroq could cost upto Rs 30 lakh if it comes to India that is and would be above the Curvv EV which tops at just below Rs 22 lakh. In Europe, the Elroq and its Karoq ICE counterpart have a price parity which means EV does not have a typical high price. Design wise, it is compact but is the first Skoda to have the 'Modern Solid design language'.
It is compact and quite sharp looking while being different from the current Skoda cars. Globally, there are three battery packs for the Elroq in terms of an entry level 125 kW for the Elroq 50 model, while the faster Elroq 85 can have a maximum range of around 560 km. Inside, the car has a larger 13-inch screen, sustainable material and a 470 litre boot.
Other features include ADAS, a head-up display with Augmented Reality, electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory and massage function etc. Of course, the big question is whether Skoda would localise the car to suit our market plus the price as it needs to compete with the Tata Curvv and others in terms of range plus cost.
As of now, it is not clear if it is coming to India, as currently all eyes are on the Kylaq SUV.
